As of November 11, 2014, Qinghai oilfield has completed 1426 km of 2D seismic, 82% of the year’s plan, 550 square kilometers of 3D seismic area, 92% of the year’s plan. Among them, "green seismic exploration" is more than 98% of the total workload.

"Green seismic exploration gathering technology has been adopted in the ongoing Lengdong three-dimensional seismic exploration” said Lijun Zhang, director of Qinghai Institute of geophysical method, BGP Inc. of China National Petroleum Corporation.

It is understood that beginning in 2013, qinghai oilfield seismic exploration work transformed from the traditional explosive source to deep application of vibroseis acquisition technology. Application of technology of vibroseis seismic exploration has three advantages: Firstly, the fragile ecological environment and wild animals in Qaidam basin have been protected well. Secondly, when seismic lines pass oil region and town, production facilities and buildings are protected well and not be destroyed, environment has no pollution. Thirdly, construction cost is effectively reduced, work efficiency is increased, and data quality is improved significantly.

"Since the beginning of the year, except mountain and marsh, qaidam basin has all realized the vibroseis' green seismic exploration." said Lin Wei, deputy director of Qinghai Institute of geophysical method, BGP Inc. of China National Petroleum Corporation.

In order to protect the little green vegetation on the surface of gobi desert, they repair the road where vibroseis car drives. They try to minimize operating area for minimizing vegetation damage and wildlife frightening.

Groundwater resources of Qaidam basin are scarce. Qinghai geophysical service in the explosive source, take small doses, single-point induced method for seismic exploration, groundwater resources is effectively protected from pollution.

In August of this year, Qinghai oilfield implemented 419.85 square kilometers of three-dimensional seismic exploration in  the block of Niuzhong. It only used 42 days to finish the work that need half a year’s time to finish.
The total number of gun shots is 194250. Among them, the number of gun shots of explosive well only accounts for 1.4% of the total number of gun shots. Green and clean exploration has been fully demonstrated in the construction of Niuzhong block.
