The Current Situation of Stimulated Reservoir Volume for Shale in U.S. and its Inspiration to ChinaDec 01, 2014
Abstract: This paper briefly illustrates the development process of the Stimulated Reservoir Volume (SRV) for shale gas reservoir in U.S. was briefly illustrated, and how micro-seismic technique drove shale gas reservoir stimulation to develop was given. First, the concept of SRV proposed by abroad is defined technically, and then the connotation and function of SRV technology are analyzed; second, the reservoir conditions, the effect of natural fractures and the characteristic of starting crack are illustrated and then the key points of SRV implementation and its enlightenment to the development of China’s hale gas reservoir stimulation technology is summarized, finally, the differences between conventional stimulation for natural fractured reservoirs such as volcanic rock and carbonate rock and SRV technology are coMPared, and the further development of the SRV for shale gas reservoir is addressed.
